The Bodaboda Riders Association Zanzibar (BRAZ) is the leading organization representing the interests and welfare of motorcycle (bodaboda) and three-wheeler (bajaj) drivers in Zanzibar. We work tirelessly to uplift our members by advocating for safer roads, better working conditions, and collaboration with key stakeholders.
BRAZ RALLY 2024 is our annual flagship event, which serves as a platform to showcase our achievements and promote the role of bodaboda drivers in Zanzibar’s socio-economic development. The rally not only celebrates the hard work and dedication of our members but also aims to position the bodaboda community as a key contributor to the tourism, transport, and economic sectors in Zanzibar.
Will be a three-day event taking place from the 14th to 16th of November in Zanzibar. This year, the rally is dedicated to celebrating the Legacy of Leadership of H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi and recognizing the Revolution Government of Zanzibar’s support for the bodaboda community. Each day of the event is designed to engage our members, celebrate our achievements, and chart a path for the future of the bodaboda sector in Zanzibar.

More than 500 bodaboda drivers will enthusiastically take part in this inaugural ride across Zanzibar to honor President Mwinyi’s exceptional leadership. The ride will focus on creating widespread awareness about BRAZ, highlighting our key objectives, and effectively communicating our big-picture vision to the people of Zanzibar

A full day of sports, games, and cultural performances will bring together bodaboda drivers, youth, and community members to celebrate President Mwinyi’s vision for job creation, economic growth, and a stronger transportation sector. The bonanza will feature a variety of entertainment and team-building activities, promoting unity and a shared sense of purpose.

The final day of the rally will be a special appreciation day for BRAZ members and Mr. President. It will serve as the official launch of the BRAZ flag and include a signing ceremony for several MoUs with key stakeholders, such as the Zanzibar Police, Health Emergency Associations, and Tourism Authorities. The event will mark the beginning of a brighter future for bodaboda and bajaji communities in Zanzibar.

At BRAZ, we are committed to creating impact collaborations that benefit our members and the wider community. During this year’s rally, we are focusing on the following partnerships:
Our goal is to work hand-in-hand with the police to ensure that safety remains a priority for all road users. This collaboration will focus on road safety training, public awareness campaigns, and support for enforcing traffic laws to make Zanzibar the safest island for both residents and visitors.
Bodaboda drivers are often the first responders at accident scenes and other emergencies. We are working to establish a network of trained bodaboda first responders to provide basic medical assistance and promote health and safety within our communities.
With Zanzibar being a top tourist destination, we aim to position bodaboda and bajaji drivers as Tourism Ambassadors. BRAZ is launching two new initiatives: the Zanzibar Tourist Tuk-Tuk and Boda Boda City Guides to promote city tours and showcase Zanzibar’s rich natural and cultural heritage.
During high tourism seasons, many visitors look for unique experiences. Through collaboration with TFS, we aim to promote protected forests, mangrove areas, and other natural attractions via specialized city tours, making sure tourists discover the hidden gems of Zanzibar..
